Work needing to be done

We are into another year that cosmetologist’s CEU’s are needed for the state of Illinois in domestic violence. I’m going to create a contact email list and start reaching out. This time I will focus on virtual training and will offer throughout the state.

Zachary made me a new logo, attached. I need to update all social media.

Inquiring on the cost of a table at the belleville farmers market for a DVAM table to introduce the workbook. Three more weekends.

This is the work to start with.

September 30th, nonprofit update

I made promises. I’ve met some of them.

I have my Board of Directors picked and they have agreed.

I have my first Breakfast Serial recorded and will be uploaded today as an introduction for tomorrow.

I have the Breakfast Serials logo completed.

I have our Articles of incorporation ready to send. I have the By Laws completed.

I have the first 10 copies of the workbook ready for sale and I’m starting to advertise.

I was able to hold one completed Law and Grace Domestic Violence class and train one nail technician.

I’m going twice a week still to to Starkloff Capstone course. Week 4, currently.

The rest is on track. ExCiTiNg!

Ok, time for self evaluation

Photo credit: ad from Open Goal on Amazon.com

Just like the goalie pictured, sometimes the effort misses the mark.

What I achieved is the job application, follow-up on the contacts from yesterday, thanking people, promoted the self-defense class.

And then I overshot the goal.

I attempted to do a final review of the book. I had to make sure it was reformatted. My computer didn’t agree with the work, so it saved incorrectly, after several hours of work. Truth be told, i closed the laptop. For the day. It will be opened back up tomorrow. Because of that, I didn’t arrange for the people to review it. I want to feel/sound as confident as possible when I do. I also missed the mark on re-advertising the nail technician training. That HAS to be done tomorrow.

Got work done. Went to the garden. Rolled on the trail and met a concerned mama deer. She was nervous around me as I was around her. I’ve hit a deer in my car before and never want to do it in my chair.

Then i tried to capture a picture of the hummingbirds active in the yard after I changed the feeders. Zach had more patience and got it.

Not a bad day.

Too much time…

I hate having time on my hands. I’m used to being busy. Very busy. I’ve worked 60+ hour weeks or more than one job my entire adult life. I did my bachelor and master degree while working and parenting. I like being busy.

Last year i had the opportunity to complete hairstylist trainings for almost 300 professionals to complete their Illinois CEU requirements for domestic violence prevention. It felt wonderful being active doing something that I love and am good at.

This year was supposed to be for the nail technicians. Their hours are due the end of September. But then COVID. It has become impossible to get my foot in the door. I offered the class on ZOOM, for free, during lockdown. I was told free classes are offered by substandard presenters. Wrong, but how could I convince them? So, I’m re-offering for a donation suggested at $10. No bites yet, but I’m going to start calling shops tomorrow.

And then my next venture. A good friend asked me to host a self-defense class. Presenter? Found. Location? Found. Topic? Decided. COVID? Not on the radar screen. So, moving it to ZOOM, also. This flyer isn’t complete, but will be tomorrow. In addition to my local friends, I will be posting this in my MS and lymphedema groups online.

Hopefully my time will get a little bit more occupied. Oh, and my garden box is finally ready for fall planting. Yay!
